Training workshop on “Ethical Issues in Research” - 2022

Medical & non-medical research are the two main domains of scientific research studies. The Ethics Review Committees approved the conducting of this workshop on research eth.ics. Faculty of Graduate Studies and the ethical review committee of KDU had observed lacunae in the knowledge of postgraduate students and researchers on ethical review clearances and the underlying procedures to get the relevant approvals etc., for their research projects and the relevant publications.

Therefore, the purpose and foremost objective of organizing this training workshop was to help all researchers and postgraduate students to proceed with their research work with a proper understanding of underlying ethical issues.

The audience of this workshop comprised the academic staff and postgraduate research students and the other researchers of KDU. More than 100 participants registered and participated for the workshop and it was a very successful training workshop for the researchers.

We are privileged to have highly experienced Six distinguished resource persons namely; Prof Chandani Wanigatunge, Chairman, FERCEL, Dr Mizaya Cadre Member, ERC SLMA, Prof Amala de Silva, Member, ERC SLMA, Prof Shamini Prathapan Secretary FERCSL Member, ERC FMS-USJP, Ms. Nilupul Jayasundara, Attorney-at-Law Member, ERC, FMS, USJ and Mr Chamath Fernando, Attorney-at-Law enlighten the audience on ethical issues in research.
