Rear Admiral JTG Sundaram psc MSc (DS) MSc (D&SS) joined the Sri Lanka Navy on 23^rd June 1971 and specialized in Gunnery. He has served various sea and shore appointments including the Naval and Maritime Academy as the Commandant and Commander of Eastern Naval Area. Rear Admiral JTG Sundaram is also an alumnus of Defence College, Wellington, India and a distinguished alumnus of the National Defense College, Islamabad, Pakistan. He was appointed as first Head of the Department on the Post Graduate section, which ultimately evolved as the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) over the period of time. Rear Admiral JTG Sundaram retired from service on 01^stJanuary 2001 upon reaching 55 years of age.
